Sediment in motion. Rust and Clay Motion captures the layered geology of eroded earth — terracotta, clay, and raw sienna in sweeping diagonal strata. The third piece in the Earthen Form collection and its most painterly.
Each rug is knotted by hand, one row at a time, by women artisans in Afghanistan, Armenia, India, and Tibet. We work with them directly — no intermediaries, fair compensation, the social mission held as the work itself.
A piece takes shape over months at the loom. Every knot is tied and trimmed by hand until the pattern settles into a surface that is dense, quiet, and made to outlast its first room.
01DesignEach pattern is mapped to a knot-by-knot cartoon — the blueprint the weavers follow thread for thread.
02DyeWool and silk are dyed in small batches to our palette, so colour carries depth rather than flat uniformity.
03KnotArtisans tie every knot by hand, then shear, wash, and finish the rug until the surface runs true.
INDEX 06 — Materials
Five fibres, chosen for character.
New Zealand wool
A long, resilient staple that holds its body and springs back underfoot, season after season.
Tibetan wool
Coarser and characterful, prized for its texture and its endurance in high-traffic rooms.
Indian wool
Takes dye with unusual depth, giving colours their saturation and slow, lived-in warmth.
Pure silk
Tied for luminosity, catching the light and shifting tone as you move around the rug.
Bamboo silk
A plant-based fibre with a soft, sustainable sheen, lending lustre without animal silk.
INDEX 07 — Provenance
A Swiss-based atelier, working directly with women artisans in Afghanistan, Armenia, India, and Tibet — no intermediaries, fair compensation, every rug knotted by hand. The social mission is not adjacent to the business; it is the business. Each piece carries the provenance of its making, made to be kept, used, and handed on.

Each piece is knotted entirely by hand, so allow 12–16 weeks from order confirmation to completion, plus white-glove delivery time. Your commission is reserved with a 30% deposit, with the balance due before dispatch.
Yes. Dimensions and palette can be adapted to your room. Share your specifications and we will confirm feasibility, price, and lead time before you commit.
Across the collection we work in five fibres — New Zealand, Tibetan, and Indian wool, pure silk, and bamboo silk — each chosen for resilience, texture, depth, or lustre. The fibre for this design is shown in the selector above.
Rotate the rug twice a year for even wear, vacuum gently without a beater bar, and blot spills promptly rather than rubbing. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun, and entrust deep cleaning to a hand-knotted-rug specialist. Cared for, it is built to last generations.
Every rug is shipped insured and delivered across Switzerland and the EU. A 30% deposit reserves your place at the loom, with the balance due before dispatch. As each piece is made to order, commissions are not returnable — though we will always remedy a genuine fault in materials or workmanship.
