FAQ
How long does an order take?

Standard-edition rugs ship six to eight weeks after payment. Bespoke commissions take twelve to sixteen weeks from approved render. Add one to two weeks for delivery in Europe; longer for international shipping.

What is the rug made of?

Hand-spun New Zealand, Tibetan, and Indian wool forms the pile. Pure silk and bamboo silk are used as accents where the design calls for them. All natural fibres, no synthetic blends.

What knot count do you weave?

Standard CarpetArtisan rugs are woven at 100 to 150 knots per square inch. Higher knot counts — up to 400 KPSI for fine silk pieces — are available for bespoke commissions, with proportionally longer lead times.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes. Every design can be commissioned in any size or shape — rectangle, square, round, runner, half-moon, or irregular. Custom sizing adjusts the price proportionally to surface area.

Can I see a sample before committing?

Yes. We send hand-knotted swatches in your chosen palette — typically a 20 by 20 cm piece — for CHF 95 per swatch, refunded against any order over CHF 5,000. Allow two to three weeks for swatch production.

Do you offer payment plans?

Bespoke commissions are billed 30 percent on order confirmation, 70 percent on completion. Standard editions are paid in full at order. For orders above CHF 20,000, we can arrange an interest-free three-instalment plan on request.

Is delivery really included?

Across mainland Europe and the United Kingdom, yes — white-glove delivery to the room of your choice, with packaging removed, included in the price. Worldwide shipping is quoted per piece.

How are your rugs made, and by whom?

Every CarpetArtisan rug is knotted by hand by women artisans we work with directly — across Afghanistan, Armenia, India, and Tibet — with fair compensation and no intermediaries.

How long will the rug last?

A well-cared-for hand-knotted wool rug lasts three to five generations — one to two centuries. Machine-made rugs last ten to fifteen years. The economics of hand-knotting make sense if you measure on a long enough timeline.

Do you repair damaged rugs?

Yes. Every CarpetArtisan rug carries a lifetime repair programme. Pile, edges, fringe, moth, and stain repairs are made by the original weavers where possible. See the Care page for details.

Can I sell the rug back to you?

Yes. Every rug sold by CarpetArtisan is eligible for our buyback programme — we offer 40 to 60 percent of original purchase price, depending on condition and age, applied as a credit toward a new commission. See the buyback section on any product page.
