Their contribution
The finest wool on earth. Hand-spun before dyeing.
Tibetan wool is the finest natural fibre available for rug-making. It grows at altitude, in animals acclimatised to extreme cold, and the result is a wool with a longer staple, a higher lustre, and a resilience that outlasts any synthetic alternative. Our Tibetan production partners hand-spin the wool before dyeing — a practice almost extinct elsewhere — which gives CarpetArtisan rugs made from Tibetan wool a depth and warmth that is immediately felt underfoot.
Fibre: Tibetan wool (Changra). Technique: hand-spun before dyeing. Knot type: Tibetan loop knot.
