Natural dye studio with skeins of wool

Sustainability

The least we can do
is the most we must do.

A hand-knotted rug, made properly, is one of the most sustainable objects you can buy. It lasts a century. It can be cleaned, re-tufted, and passed down. When its life finally ends, the fibers return to the earth. Our job is to ensure that every step before it reaches your home honors that promise.

Wool

New Zealand highland wool, RWS-certified for animal welfare and land management. Our partner farms rotate grazing, prevent overstocking, and treat their flocks better than we treat most humans.

Silk

Mulberry silk from a family studio outside Jaipur, reeled by hand on low-power looms. Silk production is water-intensive; we offset ours through our reforestation partner in Uttarakhand.

Dyes

Botanical dyes where possible (madder root, indigo, walnut husk). When synthetic dyes are necessary for certain palettes, we use AZO-free formulations and treat all wastewater to potable standard before release.

People

Every atelier is GoodWeave-certified. Every weaver earns above regional living wage. Every studio is audited twice a year — unannounced — by an independent third party.

Packaging

Jute wrapping, cardboard tubes (FSC-certified), cotton ties. No plastic. No foam. The whole thing can be composted, recycled, or kept for the next move.

Shipping

Ocean freight wherever timing allows (about 7% the carbon of air). We measure, offset, and publish our footprint each year in a public annual letter.

Verified, not claimed.
